ABUSE or VIOLENCE occurs between current or former intimate relationships.The Abuser desires to gain power and maintain control in that relationship.Their needs are top priority.The intimate he or she abuser makes a conscious choice to harm or bring permanent injury or their intimate partner,and in increasing cases kill.

- Rejection through action or words.
- Degradation
- Invoke terror through actions
- Make them feel and believe they are inferior
- The abuser will knowingly employ abusive tactics like:
- Coercion
- Threats
- Intimidation
- Verbal abuse
- Injury
- Isolation
- Humiliation
- Manipulation
Being abusive is a choice and it is also a learned behavior.
