Unmasking Domestic Violence: Emotional & Verbal Abuse
“Not All Scars Are Visible. Abuse doesn´t need Bruises to be Real!”
What is Emotional Abuse? It is when a partner uses words, actions, or silence to control, isolate or humiliate you. It damages one’s self-worth, emotional health, and overall well-being.
- Gaslighting: Making you doubt your memory or sanity. “You are crazy-that never happened”.
- Silent Treatment: Refusing to speak to you as a form of punishment or to manipulate you.
- Isolation: Controlling who you see, where you go, and even your online interactions are monitored.
- Emotional Blackmail: Using guilt or fear to control your decisions.”If you leave me, you will regret it!”
What is Verbal Abuse? It is the use of spoken or written words to insult, threaten or degrade. It can feel like constant attacks on your worth or identity.
- Name-Calling: Using cruel labels or insults.”You are worthless. You are nothing without me.”
- Yelling: Shouting to scare or silence you.
- Constant criticism: Judging your appearance, decisions or efforts.”You never do anything right. You are so clumsy”.
- Threats: Using fear to control your choices.” I will take the kids if you leave and make sure you never see them again.”
ABUSE IS NEVER YOUR FAULT: You Are Not Alone. You Are Not Imagining It. You deserve safety, respect and Love.
