When one’s dignity has been violated, most people brush the story aside and begin to justify the violation. What is Dignity? Dignity is our natural right to being. It is our inherent or inborn right to value and respect, unlike respect, which you earn based on societal expectations and some defined status quo. Dignity is in our DNA. Dignity is our God-given right. A person becomes a victim of violated dignity under various circumstances. A few case scenarios: A victim says;
- “My right to being heard and understood has been denied”.
- “I have been told l am not worthy enough to stand up, speak my piece or be listened to”.
- ” I have been physical, emotionally, financially, sexually and spiritually abused.
- “Everybody is too quick to persecute me or punish me.
It happens every minute, in some home, within an intimate relationship somewhere in the world, and no one gives the victim a hearing. Do you blame easily? Are you one of those people who are quick to judge a person`s story based on your prejudice and know-it-all attitude?
TIP: When she ever comes up to you and says: “This is my violated dignity story”, say:
“Yes, Ma’am, I Am All Ears”.
Do not even try to tell her to understand before you have heard the whole story, because;
“YOU DO NOT KNOW IT ALL YET”!
