Victims of Domestic Violence

When someone tells you their sad story, a form of violence that is happening to them, you first have to be present in the response and the tone of your voice. If it is a call and you are genuinely busy, calm them down and then ask them if they are in immediate danger. If not, assure them you have put them on your top priority list. Let them know you will call them as soon as you are free. When you promise, mean it and Keep your promise. If they are in danger, then call the police on their behalf and give their address. You can ask the police you remain anonymous if you so wish. If there are any immediate neighbours, ask them to check on them. This is only if there is physical danger, and it is for the direct protection of the victim. You can ask her if she has any injuries. For such a case, handle it swiftly.
